No-lograms
Joanie Lemercier
French artist Joanie Lemercier is primarily focused on projection of light in space and its influence on the viewer’s perception. His recent screenless projection experiments leave most spectators in awe. Using super fine particles of water, high pressure gaz and custom nozzles, Lemercier creates true volumetric projections, which due to tracking technologies interact with the audience. „I’ve used various techniques to explore similar aesthetics: peppers ghost (used in the Tupac Coachella concert), semi transparent screens, mirrors and lenses, which are often referred to as “holograms” but are in fact cheap tricks and just 2d projections. To avoid misleading use of the word hologram, I use the term No-logram (not a hologram).“
The artist is keen to adapting the technology into a large permanent installation in public space.
